Beginning in Eagle Butte, head west to Lantry and visit the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros. While you’re here, tour through the magnificent herds of wild horses and learn how ISPMB is working to preserve and protect these unique breeds. From here, travel to Eagle Butte and "Shop Cheyenne River". You’ll find unique gift items, clothing and locally made artwork in area stores. Take in the annual powwow, rodeo, parade, art market and so much more!
History and Heritage
Taking in the annual Days of 1910 Celebration in Timber Lake? Include a stop to the Timber Lake and Area Museum. Here you’ll catch a glimpse into the rich history of this area including cowboys, Native Americans and dinosaurs. Take in the town’s annual celebration and watch a demolition derby, a rodeos, a local talent contest and dine on traditional German cuisine. Plan now to celebrate the community’s centennial celebration scheduled for July 21-25, 2010. Visit local businesses to pick up materials on a Timber Lake self-guided walking tour. Learn how the town has evolved over the last 100 years, while maintaining many of its historic buildings.
